TB-500 (thymosin beta-4) background

Thymosin beta-4 is a 43-amino-acid protein found in nearly every cell, where it binds actin and helps control cell movement. TB-500 is the name used for synthetic thymosin beta-4 and for a short fragment of its active region.

It’s on the WADA prohibited list and isn’t an approved medicine.

What it does at the cell level

Thymosin beta-4’s main job is holding on to G-actin, the building block of the cell’s internal scaffolding. By controlling how much actin is free to polymerize, it controls how cells move and change shape.

Cell movement is the first step in repair, so that’s the link to the wound and blood vessel studies. The fragment often sold as the peptide contains the actin-binding region, LKKTETQ.

Research findings

Goldstein and colleagues reviewed thymosin beta-4’s role in wound repair in 2012, covering faster closure of skin wounds and new blood vessel growth in animal models.

Bock-Marquette and colleagues reported in Nature (2004) that thymosin beta-4 improved heart cell survival after injury in mice.

Similar research compounds

Short version: TB-500 is synthetic thymosin beta-4, the actin-binding peptide tied to cell migration. Labs often weigh it against these:

  • BPC-157 is a 15-amino-acid gastric peptide studied for blood vessel growth and repair

Each covers a different part of repair or immune control, from new blood vessels and cell migration to inflammation and microbial defense. Every one of them is in stock in our healing peptides.

Reconstitution chart

Concentration is simple division: the 10mg in the vial over the volume of water you add. Here’s the 10mg vial at three common volumes:

  • Add 1mL: 10mg/mL (1,000mcg per 0.1mL, or 10 units on a U-100 syringe)
  • Add 2mL: 5mg/mL (500mcg per 0.1mL, or 10 units on a U-100 syringe)
  • Add 3mL: 3.33mg/mL (333.3mcg per 0.1mL, or 10 units on a U-100 syringe)

Use bacteriostatic water, added slowly down the inside of the vial. Swirl, don’t shake. If some powder sticks to the glass, rest the vial in the fridge for a few minutes and swirl again.

Storage and stability

Put sealed the peptide vials in the freezer at -20°C if you won’t use them soon. A few days on a shelf during transit does no harm to dry powder. Once you’ve added water, the vial lives in the fridge at 2 to 8°C for up to about four weeks.

Let a frozen vial come up to room temperature before you open it, or condensation forms on the powder.

When your order arrives

Start with the label: Onyx Research, the compound name and the amount should all match what you ordered. Then look at the seal. The crimp should be tight with no cracks in the glass.

Look for a dry powder. Loose pieces are fine. Wet or discolored material should stay out of your work, so contact us with a photo.

A one-line note per vial is enough: date received, date mixed and how much diluent went in.
