DSIP comes as 5mg of freeze-dried peptide in a crimp-sealed glass vial. In short, it’s a neuropeptide. Onyx Research supplies it for in-vitro research.
What is DSIP (delta sleep-inducing peptide)?
Delta sleep-inducing peptide (DSIP) is a nine-amino-acid peptide first isolated from rabbit blood in 1977 by Schoenenberger and Monnier. It was named for its effect on slow-wave sleep in rabbits.
Its natural role is still unclear.
What it does at the cell level
DSIP was found while looking for compounds that drive deep sleep. Researchers named it for the delta waves of slow-wave sleep it seemed to boost in rabbits.
Later work suggested its effects are broader and less specific: it affects stress hormone release, body temperature and pain signaling. No receptor has been identified, which is part of why it’s still an open research question.

Research findings
Small human studies in the 1980s looked at sleep and withdrawal, with mixed results.
Animal studies report effects on stress hormones and body temperature.

Similar research compounds
Short version: DSIP is a nine-amino-acid peptide first isolated from sleeping rabbits. Labs often weigh it against these:
- Semax is an ACTH(4-10) analog linked to BDNF in rodent studies
- Selank is a tuftsin analog studied in GABA signaling and anxiety models
Brain research reaches them by separate routes: BDNF, GABA signaling, sleep regulation, neurotrophic peptide mixtures and potassium channels. Every one of them is in stock in our nootropic peptides.
When your order arrives
Start with the label: Onyx Research, the compound name and the amount should all match what you ordered. Then look at the seal. The crimp should be tight with no cracks in the glass.
Look for a dry powder. Loose pieces are fine. Wet or discolored material should stay out of your work, so contact us with a photo.
Write the arrival date on the box, and add the mixing date and volume later. That short log answers most questions if a result looks odd.
Reconstitution chart and steps
Pick your water volume first and the strength follows from it. With the 5mg vial:
- Add 1mL: 5mg/mL (500mcg per 0.1mL, or 10 units on a U-100 syringe)
- Add 2mL: 2.5mg/mL (250mcg per 0.1mL, or 10 units on a U-100 syringe)
- Add 3mL: 1.67mg/mL (166.7mcg per 0.1mL, or 10 units on a U-100 syringe)
Give a cold vial five minutes on the bench, then swab the top. Let the bacteriostatic water trickle down the side and roll the vial gently between your palms. It should turn clear within a minute or two.
Storage and stability
Put sealed DSIP vials in the freezer at -20°C if you won’t use them soon. A few days on a shelf during transit does no harm to dry powder. Once you’ve added water, the vial lives in the fridge at 2 to 8°C for up to about four weeks.
Let a frozen vial come up to room temperature before you open it, or condensation forms on the powder.

Questions people ask
How much is in a DSIP vial?
5mg, as printed on the label.
How does ordering work?
Add it to the cart with anything else you need, then check out. Everything ships together.
Which diluent should I use?
Bacteriostatic water in most cases. Our mixing chart above shows the concentration for 1, 2 or 3mL.
What’s the right way to store it?
Keep sealed vials frozen. Once you’ve added water, refrigerate it and plan to finish it within 28 days or so.
